The Park and Other Assets
Inchigeelagh has a small park situated on an island in the river Lee. This is the island from which Inchigeelagh is said to have aquired its name meaning, in irish, "Island of the Hostages". It features childrens play equipment and an excellent riverside walk leading to a spot from which locals often swim in the river. It is a wonderful place to stroll after lunch or try your hand at landscape painting.
Like most Irish villages, Inchigeelagh also has a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) playing field and successful teams who use it.
After the match you can choose from four bars in the village, all good, and all different: Creedons' Hotel, The Lakeside, The Briar Rose and Donovan's.
