The village is located in the upper valley of the River Lee in the NW ofCounty Cork, Ireland. It is in the parish of Iveleary situated 17km from our market town Macroom. In its 16km journey from its source in the mountains around Gougane, the river has achieved a fair size and heavy flow by the time it reaches Inchigeelagh.. At times of heavy rain, it can rise quickly and occasionally pose some dangers. However it is normally more a source of beauty and inspiration as it flows through the neighbourhood's many lakes.
Inchigeelagh is poorly served by public transport with only one bus a day at present. Macroom has a regular bus service to Cork City, Killarney and Tralee and is easily reached by taxi. However, we recommend hiring a car to obtain the mobility necessary for real enjoyment of the area.
Most buses are run by Bus Eireann
Trains by Iarnrod Eireann
Airports to check are Dublin, Shannon, Cork and Farranfore
Ferries are Fastnet Line, Irish Ferries, Celtic Line, and Brittany Ferries |
